About Mommity
What is Mommity?
Mommity is a free maternal and postnatal health companion app built for mothers in Cameroon. It gives week-by-week pregnancy guidance, checks symptoms for danger signs, sends antenatal visit reminders, helps you find emergency care, and stays with you through the weeks after birth.
Is Mommity free?
Yes. Mommity is free to download and free to use.
Does Mommity replace antenatal clinic visits?
No. Mommity is a companion between visits, not a replacement for them. Checks such as blood pressure, blood and urine tests and the baby's growth can only be done by a health worker. Please attend every antenatal visit you are able to reach.
Using the app
Which phones does Mommity work on?
Mommity is available for Android phones on Google Play and is designed for limited data and older phones. The iPhone version is on its way — join the waitlist on this site and we will tell you when it arrives.
Does Mommity work without internet?
Core guidance and the danger-sign safety check work offline. Some features, such as the map of nearby hospitals and the community, need a connection.
Which languages does Mommity speak?
English, French and Cameroonian Pidgin, with voice support. Answers can be read aloud, which helps if reading is difficult.
How does the Danger Sign Checker work?
You describe how you feel and Mommity gives you a clear risk level. If something looks serious, it guides you to seek care straight away. It informs your decision; it does not diagnose, and when in doubt you should always go to a health facility.
Privacy and safety
Is the community really anonymous?
Yes. Mothers share their worries and joys in the community anonymously, in a space that is moderated to stay kind and respectful.
What should I do in an emergency?
Go to the nearest health facility immediately. Do not wait for the app or for a reply from us. Heavy bleeding, a severe headache with blurred vision, fits, high fever, severe belly pain, difficulty breathing, or a baby who has stopped moving all need care now.
Working with us
Can my hospital or organisation partner with Mommity?
Yes. We work with hospitals, health units, NGOs and public health programmes to reach mothers who are hardest to reach. Use the contact form and tell us about your organisation and the women you serve.
